There are a lot of web editors out there.
The important thing to remember is to find one that works best for you.
These days you can create HTML pages in anything from Microsoft WORD to
Allaire's HomeSite editor to NetObjects Fusion. I have used several of
them. Most are just a matter of preferences and what works best for you.
If you like WYSIWYG editors, then I suggest you also get a true HTML
editor to compliment it so that you can keep control over your code. Here
is a list of several editors, and a link to information about each one.
- WebEdit
Professional A great shareware web editing tool. Has some decent
online help and tips. Now owned by Sandiego.com (formerly Luckman
Interactive and Nesbitt).
- Arachnophilia
Another good web editing software. This one is even better because it
is careware.
- HomeSite
This is another web editor that can be downloaded for a free 30 day
evaluation. HomeSite has a lot of functions, is user-friendly, and,
best of all, affordable.
- HotDog
Express HotDog Express will, in four easy steps, help you to build
and upload your very first Web page. HotDog Express provides an ideal
migration path for beginners that may be initially overwhelmed by the
power of HotDog Professional.
- HotDog
Professional The latest version of HotDog Professional is an
advanced Web site authoring tool targeted at technical Web design
professionals and hobbyists that want total control of their HTML.
- NetObjects
Fusion A very good WYSIWYG editor that also comes with a copy of
Allaire's Homesite. Try an evaluation copy and check out how this
software works with managing large websites.
This list is obviously not all-inclusive.
You can find many shareware versions of webpage editors on the TUCOWS
site (The Ultimate Collection Of Winsock Software). Some other popular
titles include Hot Dog Professional, Corel Web Designer, HTML Pro, and
HotMetal Professional, just to name a few. Find the one you are most
comfortable with and have fun!
